Of Note: ROBIN HOOD is a legendary heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature and film. According to legend, he was a highly skilled archer and swordsman, and traditionally he is said to have robbed from the rich and given to the poor. Through retellings, additions, and variations, a body of familiar characters associated with Robin Hood has been created. These include his lover, Maid Marian; his band of outlaws, the Merry Men; and his chief opponent, the Sheriff of Nottingham.
ROGER LANCELYN GREEN was a writer and part time professional actor and a member of the Oxford literary group, the Inklings, along with C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. He was later a member of the Council of the University of Liverpool until 1971. He specialized in children's stories and is known for re-writing The Adventures of Robin Hood stories.
The Folio Society of London is well-known for producing high quality volumes of classic and modern literature. This volume features a cloth-bound hard cover with gold-stamped cover art and many beautiful glossy full-page illustrations by John Holder.
The volume is in "Robin Hood" green with a matching green slip case and green-tinted page edging and colorful end papers.
